In the history of transfer market, Enzo Fernandez now holds the record for being the most expensive mid-fielder.
Benfica sold him for €121M; whom the 22-year-old joined only in the summer of 2022.

With Enzo’s €121M move, he broke Kepa Arrizabalaga’s €80M move from Athletic Club.

Kepa made a move from the La Liga side in the summer of 2018 to Chelsea which made him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
Enzo’s move makes him the outright most costly player after a FIFA World Cup edition.

The Argentine’s move to Chelsea made him also the most expensive EPL transfer of all time ahead of Jack Grealish.
