Most expensive Transfers: The Winter transfer window was once again the topic of discussion as clubs broke the bank for a number of acquisitions.
While some clubs did not use the window at all, others went all out to get the best possible talents.
The transfer market has for long seen inflated figures for various players and this time was no different either with clubs willing to invest heavily.
Only time will tell us if there is a return on investment but until then, we look at the signings which caught the headlines due to the moolah invested for them.

Lucas Digne
Aston Villa manager, Steven Gerrard managed to secure the signing of Everton full back, Lucas Digne for €30M.
The French defender provides the creative fulcrum both from set-pieces and open play and has terrific ball control.
Digne showed his true worth in only his 2nd match for Villa as he provided the assist for Buendia’s goal against former-club, Everton.
The creativity and link-up play with the likes of Coutinho is what the Villa fans can expect as he settles under the Claret and Blue Army.
Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle secured the signing of Lyon central Mid-fielder, Bruno Guimaraes for a record €42.1M.
The Brazilian international is one of the top talents in world football and is a boost to Eddie Howe and Newcastle.
The Magpies are struggling for points in the league and remain relegation-threatened. As a result, Bruno’s arrival is set to spark the club’s fortunes for the remainder of the season.
Guimaraes has the ability to convert defence to attack and can get the Magpies further up the pitch.
Luis Diaz
Luis Diaz moved to Liverpool from Porto for €45M in the transfer window and was the big-money singing.
With 14 goals and 4 assists for Porto in the Liga Portugal, Diaz brings in wealth of creativity, goals and confidence to the Reds set-up.
The 25-year-old is in scintillating form and aims to get cracking under Jurgen Klopp once the season resumes.

Ferran Torres

After failing to get much game time at Manchester City, 21-year-old Ferran Torres moved to Barcelona for €55M.
This was a huge move considering the talent he brings along which would help the under-performing Barcelona set-up profit.
Torres made an impact immediately by scoring and assisting in 2 of his 3 appearances at the Catalan club.
Xavi hopes to see his countryman continue the good form and become an integral part of Barcelona through his displays.
Dusan Vlahovic

Vlahovic’s future was always under question before the window opened and it was all put to bed with his arrival at Juventus for a massive €81.6M.
The center forward was the Serie A’s top scorer this season with 17 goals from 21 matches at Fiorentina.
Allegri is expected to draft him into the playing 11 straightaway so as to continue the top-notch form.

He is the fourth highest transfer ever for Juventus behind Ronaldo, Higuain and De Ligt and his job would be similar to the Portuguese.
Juventus saw a number of departures but the arrival of Vlahovic is certainly set to increase Juventus’ chances of performing better in front of goal.
