Trae Young was born September 19, 1998, in Lubbock, Texas. He is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association.

In college, Young played basketball for the Oklahoma Sooner. In 2017, he became the first and only player to ever lead the National Collegiate Athletic Association in both points and assists in a single season.

He is 6ft 1 inch in height and was the 5th overall pick and was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2018 NBA draft, but was later traded to the Atlanta Hawks, along with a future first-round pick, for the draft rights to Luka Dončić. He made it to the All-Rookie first team and was an NBA All-Star by his second season.

Young founded the Trae Young foundation in 2019 with an aim to continue education for mental health. According to their website, the foundation “will inspire and help make a positive impact on all children and adults from all walks of life who suffer from Mental Health problems.”

Recently, Young has helped in clearing medical debts of more than $1 million for families in Atlanta. Additionally, he won the January NBA cares community assist award for his contributions towards charity.
